Is it possible to make a Model Car into an RC using an old RC of the same scale?
I’m getting the Revell 1/25 scale ’92 Mustang Lowrider model car, is it possible to make it into an RC by taking a 1/25 scale RC and putting its components in the Mustang? I’m not making the mustang a lowrider either, that’s just sickening. Pro stock ftw.
Its possible but will take lots and lots of work – just be mindful that the model kit shell will not withstand the bumps and crashes.
You will need to build a brand new chassis to cater for the running gear which will consist of a motor, servo, reversible ESC, transmitter and receiver.
Additional items will be drive shafts, gears and some scratchbuilding skills to make a steering system and if you are truly masochistic – shocks/suspension.
Its probably best to look for a polycarbonate RC ’92 mustang shell and place it on a 1/18th or the more popular 1/10th scale chassis where the rc gear is more plentiful.
Good Luck
